Kopaskie Family History Page
This webpage will share
information about ongoing family history or genealogy projects. We will
encourage other members to join in the research. I’m currently working on a
brief biography of Valentine and Anna Kopaskie using historical records, deeds,
census, wills, and family stories about them.
Any stories we need to document about the Clarks, Tormeys, and Kopaskies families. Using some stories I remember Dad mentioned I did confirm that Mary Flanagan was Bernard Clark’s second wife and Dad pointed out that they lived on a small farm near the powder mill.
– the location of the barn behind the house that burned down in the 1930’s,
– Is there was there a small ice house in the front yard near the lilac tree,
– the whereabouts of the smokehouse,
– whether there was a silo connected to the barn. We also want to
– learn about the stories of growing up on the farm,
– having chicken dinners for the whole extended family, and
– the type of chicken business that Mommy was running. Also
– family stories of our relatives. For example
– I confirmed a story that Dad told me about his mother talking to her half-sister and the Clark’s had a small farm near the powder mill that Dad pointed out to me. He also pointed to lane way where a small house that his Uncle John had off of Straw Ridge road.
– A cousin of ours that I have corresponded with did not think that was true but I
did find a marriage certificate that proves this and a map that Has a Clark name in the same location where Dad showed me.
– Additionally, we want to learn about people’s experiences of growing up on the farm like milking cows, and bringing in hay.
– We need your help to collect and record all these stories and
questions.

Du Bouis history
Information on Dominican Sister who ran the orphanage where GM Hoffman and brothers were from 1892 to 1902. The 1900 census shows them at a location that burned down in 1901. Some of the links tell this story. I do not know of any stories that Granma told about the orphanage other then that the mother had to lie to get them in about their ages.
